What can I use my roll off dumpster for?

Roll off dumpsters can be used for many applications. The most common uses for roll off dumpsters are for debris removal and for construction related dumpsters. They can also be used to recycle concrete, brush, leaves, dirt, stones, metal and many other waste streams. When dealing with various types of waste streams, there are several factors to consider. For example, one of the biggest mistakes we deal with are the people who get a container for debris and then put other materials mixed in that drive up their cost beyond what it would have cost to separate the waste streams.
A perfect example just happened over the Labor Day Weekend. A customer ordered a container for concrete at the Sandy Hook National Preserve. They were doing concrete work and they didn’t finish the job before the holiday weekend. They returned after the holiday to find that the holiday weekend beachgoers had used the container to discard their beach trash. There was so much contamination in that concrete box, it had to be dumped as debris instead of recycled as concrete. The container cost the contractor triple what it should have cost him. This is a common problem.

Another common problem is cross contamination between brush and leaves. It is easy to see why one would think leaves and brush would go together, but they don’t. Of course leaves on branches don’t need to be picked off (yes, someone really asked me that question once!), but you can’t add fallen leaf piles to a brush container because the leaves are turned into compost and the brush is chipped into wood chips. Without asking, you might make that mistake and then you are stuck with a trash box that may cost you double what you started with!

When dealing with different types of waste, it is often best to discuss it with the hauler you are planning on using for the container. I have over 20 years in the waste removal industry and 18 years has been as the owner of my own company. I can guide you through how to separate your waste streams into the most cost effective plan that accomplishes your goals while maximizing your spending dollars.
